I've had such a busy week last week... it is now Monday and I still need a weekend! Half asleep on my feet here and doing tedious detail drawings :(
OH WELL
So i just thought I would share one of the awesome moments of last week... Wednesday night we went off to see The Pixies live!! What an amazing experience. It was also made 100 times more awesome having the Ginger Ninja with us. It was their 20th anniversary of the album Doolittle and so the Ginger Ninja worked out that the first time that he saw The Pixes live I was only 3 years old!!! lol
Most of the time I was up front bouncing around with the Ginger Ninja but for the last few songs headed back to C and my work mate and his friends and this is the little video I shot there :)

Busy busy and still sick :(
Well my attempt to keep up with my blogging is being thwarted !! bloody work - I mean really.
It seems that once we cut people at work not only have we had extra work to make up for their absense but we suddenly started winning pitches and gettting a load more pitch work to do. So we have been run off our feet. And yesterday it got even worse. We normally have about 2 weeks to work on a pitch before presenting. Yesterday we had 3 companies demanding a presentation for the end of this week. Everybody trying to get things sorted before christmas and holidays. Plus all the jobs that we have won lately are all wanting to be on site before Christmas which means drawing packs to get out so that they can actually build. So work life is a delicate balance and juggling act at the moment. But I only have to do it for 3 more days !! YAY
Highlight of the weekend was heading off to a gig down in Camden at Underworld. A friend had extra tickets so C and I got them. It was a ska band called Streetlight Manifesto.
Which was awesome. It was a small intimate venue sold out and full of massive fans. The entire space was one big varing degrees of mosh pit. It was great! I just thrive on that kind of energy. The opening act was pretty cool too!! They were Random Hands. So it was an awesome night with some very cool friends!
Last night was a nice night of christmas cake and red wine at Mr & Dr I. They invited us around for christmas cheer and it landed up being one of those situations where you have no idea if there will be present exchanging or not. And you cant ask if there is going to be because if they arent then they will feel forced into it. OMG the admin! So C and I decided to go with the token present thing. We went for a stroll down the street market near work and picked out a pair of "cost effective" earrings for Dr I and a Rubiks cube and a book as a bit of a joke for Mr I.
We did arrive to gifts and they got us a book on all the British festivals and the first series of the Sarah Connor Cronicles. Dr I seemed to love the earring so much that there were even tears. I was completely taken aback but it also reminded me why i love giving presents. I love it when I get someone a present that suits them so much. That is thier style or that they really wanted or didnt even know they wanted until you gave it to them. So that was nice. I actually was a really cool way to start a week.
Well I have to be up early for a physio appointment (finally trying to get my back pain sorted) and we have want should be a great night planned for tmr. We won tickets to a dinner theater thing - for the South Africans...its Madam Zingara. Hopefully i'll be able to blog about that later in the week.
Oh yeah and btw ...I hate the whole secret santa thing...this is what I got ....
Racing Spiders. HUH??? i mean we are supposed to spend £5 ...which I actually spent £6 on the one I gave and how much could these have cost. It is just weird. I hate having to open this shit in front of everyone else and seeing all the way cooler stuff that was being given. I one that I would have loved was a large "rubber" duck for the bath that also is a radio...you twist its head to turn it on and then twist the tail for find the frequency.
oh well

Warmth Finally
What a great South African music themed weekend I had !! (even though i cant beleive it is already wednesday and fast heading towards the next weekend)
Friday night saw us heading off to see Plush (listen to them here) in concert at the Islington Carling Academy. I was super excited to see them again all the way in London. C and I and Fire Poi Boi headed up to Angel and grabbed some Wagamama's for dinner - Very yummy indeed! Cept as usual the portions are too big and the pixies (C) got to finish it all off.
The concert was great even though I think the Brixton Carling Academy is a much better venue due to the fact that the floor is sloped so short people like me have an easier time of seeing the stage. I sadly got stuck behind ALL the tall guys in the venue. And seriously i'm not over exagerating. I had about 6 over 6ft tall guys right in front of me right through the crowd obsuring every view for me. So there was alot on me moving back and forth to get views of the stage. but other then that the gig was awesome as Rory still has the most amazing energy on stage - it can only be infectious. Sadly the bassist and other guitarist didnt make it through customs and got sent back home :( But still it made the gig more like the Plush i know and love. It did of course bring back loads and loads of memories of back home and the past - which made me a little sad. but what can you do. I suppose i have to get a bit homesick every now and then.
Met up with a chick I knew back in Cape Town who has moved over here and her friend who has just moved over as well and I knew via a bunch of people as always tends to happen. After the gig we went stubling up Upper St trying to find the bar with the after party which happened to be right at the top of Upper St went the gig venue was at the bottom. It was a rather weird ramble up the road meeting random Saffa's heading to the place place along the way. Anyways we did eventually make to the bar and landed up in the bar next door as there was no cover charge to get in.
So a great night all around and nicely close to home and a short bus ride there! I would just like to point out that now C has decided he likes fun tequila riddled Gem!! So now tequila just seems to appear. So Saturday morning was a little rough on the head!
After an insignificant daytime and far too soon for my sore head the evening rolled around. Much debate went on as to whether we should head off to Goldfish or continue to watch Coupling (OMG I forgot how much this show makes me laugh so much that I cant breathe) But with an encouraging call from a friend of C's who was waiting for us to pitch up we went into overdrive get ready mode. And off to the club we went :)
What an awesome night ! Goldfish was amazing !! We headed to the front and loved every minute of it. Cept for the guy standing on my foot and my shoes killing my feet by the end of the night. We also managed to fight the tiredness and hang around for some Roger Goode (who is a top SA DJ and also a friends brother) We decided that once we left the club that there was a definite call for a cab as it was already 3am! So after attempting to do it the legal way, we got an illegal one and landed up with the coolest Nigerian cab driver. We talked Africa and politics and the uk etc non stop all the way home. Even once he got us to our home and had been paid he still wanted to talk...eventually we got away but of course after lots of handshakes and goodbyes.
Surprisingly Sunday morning we woke up relatively early for having gone to bed at 4am and even managed some house cleaning before I landed up sitting in the garden in the sun with my laptop - got to love wireless internet !! Was just so great to be having a summers day with warm air and sun. I def needed to stock up on that Vitamin D !!
After much waiting and hunger due to waiting for Miss Popular to arrive back in london after an afternoon stuck in traffic for her. Miss Popular is one of my very best friends and was in London for a short while and also got to go off and do some travelling. Sunday night was the last night i was going to see her. C and I headed off finally and with much coaxing of C off his computer game to Waterloo to grab some food and drinks. Sadly the evening was WAY too short with her and her bf running off to catch their train in time and C and I just making the last tube for the night. It was great to see her but of course left me sad once goodbyes had to be said! She means so much to me and I miss her alot. She had such a specific role in my life in CPT and I will not be able to fill that in London. But it wont be long before it is Dec and I will get to see her and we have already started making plans :)
This week Trendy is on holiday so it has been quiet but steadily work filled! Hence hard to find blogging time and chatting time as well - I know bad me. Cept Monday got a bit emotional ...and Tuesday was aweful as I had to deal with an entire day of agonizing back pain which is happily much better today.
But today was MUCH better - the sun was out and I got to soak up more vitamin D in the park at lunch time !
It is my dad's 76th birthday today!!! and he sounds much happier and healthier today which is fantastic! I got to have a good talk to the family back home and heard that my youngest (in his 30's) brother has just gotten engaged. Congrats to him.
Well that is all for now...sorry if it was a long boring post - but hopefully you'll find some cool music that you like from it :)

Deathcab For Cutie
So today has been a seriously exhausting day but mostly cause I started off exhausted !!! On wednesday when having lunch in the park with my work mate Miss Quiet she mentioned that she was going to a gig the next night to see a band she didn't know...Deathcab for cutie... I was instantly like "OOOHHHH how awesome I love them!" So she was like would you like to come i have an extra ticket...HELL YEAH!It is a complicated story about a friend and her bf (who bought the tickets) but an ex bought tickets too and now the friend my friend and the ex where going and the bf couldn't...oh well still I got a free ticket - YAY.
It was really awesome! They are pretty American indie but really like the music and the lyrics and the vibe was amazing !! the Brixton academy was full to the brim with massive fans and the energy of the crowd was really great. BUT they were seated tickets...That was very weird for me. I enjoyed getting to sit when waiting etc. But i still think I'm def much more of and standing in the crowd, jumping up and down and moving to the music kinda girl! I suppose i got a great view this way (cause normally i never have a good view with being only 5ft tall !!!) But this just distracted me and i landed up watching all sorts of things that i would be distracted by on strange normally - like the little helper guy the ran around picking up the singers towel and replacing the water and tuning the guitars in the background.
All in all tho it was a very awesome artist to watch live!
Then i headed home to find an empty house as C had stayed at work for a BBQ and booze! He pitch up home about 5 mins after I had walking in the door and proceeded to POUNCE (yes he pounces...kinda like tigger who i think he was in a previous life!) on me and so his hyperactive drunk harassment begins...yes it can be very annoying with things like getting licked on the nose but it also has me in absolute stitches!!! It can be very exhausting tho....so thankfully a slightly (read very) ummm stoned housemate came home so we got to harrass him :) We landed up sitting on the kitchen counters talking absolute shit until way too late !!
*side note...if anyone can find this movie: young people fucking Watch it !!! We now like to torment the housemate with a comment about cookie dough - it is brilliant.
Anyway i now have to get back to the annoying drawing that i have to get done...way to much thinking for a friday afternoon when you feel like shit!

Tales of the Download festival
Firstly I just wanted to say that i've been thinking lately and since i've started to read more and more fellow blogs out there I've found i've been starting to follow a bit of a format and i've decided that i'm going to change that and go back to how things were before. This might seem like a small simple difference but it means something to me. The main thing is that I was starting
to blog more anonmously and well I never really was before so why should I now. I dont have anything to hide or feel any need to be held back if people know me. I know there are quite a few friends that read my blog and both my mom and bf read my blog regularly...esp thanks to rss feeds. lol. Anyway so even tho the people I write about are refered to by nicks it is normally their choice and preference. So here I am with C at download festival ------>
So anyways...Download ...WOW. I'm so glad we made the plans and effort to go. It was so great, I loved it. There are of course downsides to the mission and sleeping arrangements (i.e.camping) but it is all so worth it !!!
We threw everything together on Friday morning and I was impressed at how effiecient we were at it ...normally it is an insane rush and are always forgeting things. This time tho there we were sitting around waiting to head to the train station so that we didnt arrive TOO ridiculouly early (we are normally super early due to C and I both having paranoid tendancies as to missing planes, trains etc. even though we are in a mad rsuh at home) Here absolutly everything went so smoothly ! was great!
Once at the venue we were def overwhelmed by the shear size of it. As we wondered around amazed by all the tens of thousands of tents and wondering where the hell we were going to put ours down! We landed up in the campsite closest to the arena standing around with a group of about 30 people and more arriving by the minute waiting for the stewards to find us places to pitch tents. I wasnt too keen to stand around forever waiting and since we were still trying to stick to time schedule to be able to make it to see SEETHER. So when the steward said who has a 4 person tent my hand shot up so fast you would swear I had professional experience being a teachers pet. lol. Yes I know we had a 4 person tent for the 2 of us ...but it was great ! So off we went and pitched tent... What a cool tent we got for half price at Argos - damn i love that place!
Sadly we didnt make to to see seether...well we saw them walking off the stage. It was like a half hour trek from the camping grounds to the main stage - ARG!
So here is the list of bands out of the masses that we saw:
Friday:
Disturbed - so thrilled that I got to see these guys. Love the music. Sadly was by some wankers throwing negative comments around so had to move and find some fans.
Motorhead - So had to see these guy just to say I have since they are the for-fathers of the current rock stuff. I cant get over the inabilitly of Lemmy to make himself understood but he can still sing !! rock legend!
Rise against - Was good to hear these guys for the first time...will have to go find some more!
Kiss - Again you just have to see these guys to say that you have, I mean what a show with all the lights and fireworks and costumes!
Saturday:
Alter bridge - Wow what a hot lead vocalist! yummy! He is a rock kevin bacon look alike! Plus have liked the few songs that I have of theirs
Bullet for my valentine - A little to Trash for my liking
Incubus - So great! but would you expect any less! They performed most of their best tracks as well. I must say I loved the random comment "Whoa there is a giant hotdog back there...if your hungry or anything" (hotdog food stand reference)
Offspring - WOW Was right up there in the insane packed in crowd being jumped up and down and trying not to be squashed or trampled. Was amazing vibe ! and wow was I carried back to being 13 and mad about them. I was a teenager all over again :)
Sunday:

Apocalyptica - Really love these strange finiish (sp?) guys when they are doing Mettalica on strings...They are basically metal on classical instruments...you try full on head banging (the real deal) while playing a cleo at a million miles an hour! I must say that most of the stuff they performed from the new album was a little to thrash for me...didnt think they could get harder metal then they were already but I was wrong
Within temptation - Interesting Dutch goth metal with Chick lead vocal - kinda evanescene like.
Coheed & Cambria - Surprisingly better live then I thought they would be.
Jimmy eat world - Thought I would enjoy them better then i did. They played all the good tracks but I think it might have been the sound set up (heavy on the instruments, light on the vocals) that made them sound samey
and lastly but def the best Jonathan davis (I cannot describe the feelings that I go through when I hear this guy - let along live...There were shivers down my spine and tears in my eyes! He is the ultimate to me and i dont even know why just that the music get into me)

My First Ebay purchase
So i've done it, I've joined the ebay purchasing community...And these are my very first purchase:
How crazy are these !! So cool... DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL here I come! Am pretty happy that I have such cool wellies to keep my feet and clothes mud free. Am hoping there isnt going to be any mud but hey who am I kidding this is England and this is the festival norm.
I havent quite gotten up the guts to actually do the whole auction bidding thing. Was trying to wrap my head around this last night and I dont know if i'm being stupid or not but I find it hard to see how you would be able to win anything with the whole automatic bidding system. Its like a whole mind guessing game thing.
Maybe i'll just start with something really small...lots of shopping surfing awaiting me in the near future :)

So i've been promising myself that I would get these posted sooner but you know how life goes and once I have a break from blogging I have to find a quiet moment to respark the routine.
I was downloading the pictures of my phone and the videos as well and found the few ones I had taken of the Korn concert - I apologise for the quality etc I was too busy jumping up and down in the mosh pit ...well on the side of it.
I have no idea why i'm so attracted to mosh pits - I think it is the energy and most of them are really happy places as well. It feels like everyone is part of it cause they are just loving the music and the vibe and energy so much that just jumping up and down isnt enough of an expression of joy. Plus i have to say that it is def easier to see the stage as a short person by being near the mosh pit. I had the most perfect view over the mosh pit as everyone makes a huge gap for the mosh pit and keeps the veiw clear.

This is def another reason why i'm loving living in London. (but I must say that it is typical that once I leave SA Korn go and make plans to play there. They are actually performing this easter weekend in SA)

Party Weekend
I cant believe how fast the last week has gone and that i havent gotten any posts out! Especially since I've had a very eventful week at that.
Friday was a much better day mostly just because I decided that it was going to be and it was of course nearly weekend and we have a fun filled weekend ahead !!
We got some climbing in before heading out to see a workmate, Mrs Quiet's husbands band play. Climbing was at first frustrating and I was getting my confidence seriously shaken but then we found a set of routes that I really enjoyed and flashed my first 5A (I know that means very little to most of you out there but I was struggling with that grade and always had to struggle with it so was great to do it first time) Rushing off straight after that with the adrenaline pumping through my veins we headed back into central London.
The band, A Quiet Minute, who arent very quiet were great and since it was only their second live performance it was very impressive. But the big shock/gossip of the evening was when the 2 senior designers from work that had joined us made it very clear that they were now dating by very publicly snogging over the bar. Now that was entertaining. The evening as a whole was great, there was such a good vibe and C and I just enjoyed being in the moment together!
Saturday was a very late start since we had only crawled into bed at 4am. Mostly the day was just lounging around and C off playing shoot em up computer games with the housemate... this was until they then decided to finally hang up the coat rack. This was def a very entertaining experience ...boys are funny ! Firstly there is the whole debate about generally were the electrics are in the wall and the basically just decided to drill and see what happens. At least they did think to turn off the electricity. Then they proceed to have a great debate about how to hang the two pieces together. We havent hung it for almost a year now cause of missing pieces (washers) but strangely enough they now landed up with pieces left over. Now to position it. I would just like to point out that using the straight edge of a book to line up holes that are further apart then the spine of the book isnt a good idea ! but anyway. Being boys it was basically about using the power tools of course. The best part was when the housemate would just wander off with the torch and leave C drilling in the dark. This resulted in C finding his head torch which just looked hysterical!! So through the whole process I got to sit back and watch in fits of giggles.
We had plans to head off to a party at a club in town called Abacus which was organised by a
bunch of Trinidadians of which one of my workmates is part of (him being Trinidadian and all). The committee that holds these parties once a month in London is called busspepper and seriously have a look at the website and head to one of their parties sometime. It was touch and go about whether we we going to go being all exhausted from the party the night before but we did land up going and having a fab time !! What a nice happy chilled out party vibe !! It was packed but everyone was SO friendly! It felt like the same vibe we would have partying in Cape Town. We had such a good time getting all hot and sweaty on the dance floor and got to be all ranchy and stuff - even tho C and I were so not ranchy compared to the grinding that the Carribean people like to do ! I was very impressed that we stayed at the club till 3am but hey time flies when your having fun !!
And sunday was pure recovery day and recharging for Korn the following night.... but that will have to be another blog soon :)

DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL 08
YAY - *happy dance*I have got us tickets for the Download music festival !! YAY. This will be my first music festival in the UK and an super excited. It is def all the music I like and C does too but not as much as me. But what an experience it is going to be !! 3 days of camping out with a seriously crazy crowd and rocking out to some bands with ever more crazy crowds !! I cant wait :)

And of course there are plans to take advantage of being in the UK to see all the bands that I would love to see. You just have to be on the ball as the big artists sell out seriously quickly. Foo fighters sold out their concert in June within the first 45 mins of sales as I tried to get ticket at 09:50 and they went on sale at 09:00.
Crazy stuff... Anyways so def have some exciting music experiences on the way this year :) YAY !! (i've already said that right ?!?! lol)
