Spa Sunday

Friday, January 26, 2007

My brother finally got the gift giving thing right ....the whole kite and plane fiasco is another story ....and got my mom and I vouchers to go to the Angsana Spa at the Vinyard Hotel. So we book ourselves in for full body massages in the same room for last sunday.

We arrived at the spa and disscussed which treatment would best siut what we wanted from the massage. Then we were lead to a seating area in the reception that over looked a cute little fountain which created beautiful soothing sounds.

Moms choice of massage was the Fusion - This clever blend of Thai and Swedish massage techniques is unique to Angsana Spa. Our therapist uses strong palm strokes to deliver the massage while stretching you at various points of the session for maximum impact and complete relaxation that leaves your body satiated. The Invigorating Oil soothes all aches, unblocks stiffness and enhances flexibility.

And my choice was Ibu's secret - Adapted from a traditional Balinese technique, this deep tissue massage uses thumbs and heels to soothe muscle aches, aid blood circulation and relieve tension. The invigorating sensation of this strong massage is enhanced by the warming properties of the Turmeric and Eucalyptus extracts in the Melody Oil.

We then got given "slippers" which mom and i just found hysterical cause they were MILES to big for us! my foot almost went right out the front of then went trying to walk.
We then got lead to the stunning treatment room ....

Then we got our feet and legs rubbed with warm cloths and given a refreshing pink drink. So then it was time to get naked and start the relaxing yet torturous massage. I say this due to the fact that I had picked a deep tissue massage and have the most insane muscle knots all over the place (mostly in my shoulders were I store all my stress) And boy did this little woman with the most insanly strong hands give them such a working ! But despite that and the stiff shoulders that came from it, it was stunning. Being rubbed all over with oil and being massaged was just the best - I definitely think this has to happen more often!

So after the massage they left us along with ginger tea (OMG horrible!!) and water to relaxed and rest which was great so you didnt have to rush off straight after the hour massage. So we got to check out the beautiful view and gardens and I couldnt resist taking some pics...

Current mood: tired
Seen while driving home yesterday, people literally playing in fire....
On my way home from work there is a large open area. There are always people treking across it from the residential areas to the industrial area. So this area was on fire yesterday. I'm not talking huge flames or anything ...there was a huge black burnt area and on the edges were little flames. And there in the black area are a few guys jumping around. At first I thought that there were trying to put the first out - but the longer I looked I began to realise they were just playing around in the fire for fun ...

Books, TV and Life

I seem to find that it is amazing how things can ring so true in fiction when we compare it to our own lives. This is mostly evident in the movie/tv media. I cant decide if it is my life imitating TV or TV imitating my life. I know this sounds very self centred but when you are sitting watching the last episode of Gilmore girls and there is Rory saying goodbye to bf and him going off to the airport and her standing in the doorway wanting to go to the airport but freaking out at the same time ....this is a scene from my life ...and where is the characters bf going to, well london of course. Yet another parallel.
These keep happening mostly everywhere. I do suppose that friends do joke that my life is like a soap opera but that is always hard to believe - until you actually keep getting hit over and over again by all these parallels till you are giddy with all the tears of sadness and joy have embarressed you one too many times.

With books it is more of a case of being influenced by them. In august last year i read a book called gardens of paradise (i think) and as I read about these peoples lives I identified with them and when the seemingly parallel of my love life popped up yet again I was taken by the hugest urge to just buy a plane ticket, jump on a plane and see what love had planned for me ...could it turn out as well for me as the character in the book?!

Then almost like the concept in the book my life followed the idealised view of life and worked out. how was that possible - is this a fairytale? So as i'm the one standing the doorway wanting to go to the airport and yet freaking out at the same time I start to read another book to influence my actions. This time it is saying even more strongly that I must seize every opportunity and not waste a single moment part from the one in your heart because you dont know how long you have on this earth.

So i'm left wondering if we see all these parallel's in ones life in the movies and books why do we treat it like fantasy and not reality? Why can we not have the fantasy - the fairytale story with the happy ending ? Well I say that we can - I will trust the fanstasy and I will make it reality - and if it ends up more like a soap then a book then so be it ...No matter what it will sure be a great story.

Beyond The Sea (Trenet/Lawrence)
Somewhere beyond the sea
Somewhere waiting for me
My lover stands on golden sands
And watches the ships that go sailing
Somewhere beyond the sea
She's there watching for me
If I could fly like birds on high
Then straight to her arms I'd go sailing
It's far beyond the stars
It's near beyond the moon
I'll know beyond a doubt
My heart will lead me there soon
We'll meet beyond the shore
We'll kiss just like before
Happy we'll be beyond the sea
And never again I'll go sailing

Well i had a whole blog writtin the other day about Christmas and the first week of the new year - but as it seems that my browser wasnt too keen on me posting it, it was lost :(

So now here is probably a much shorter account of life at the moment.....
I just want to say that I had the most amazing last 3 weeks to 2006. was def a perfect end to the year. I have to thank the person that was mostly responsible for this great time....Thanks my amazing man :)

So christmas was a busy affair ...Christmas eve was taken up with present shopping and dinner with Callum's family (getting to meet the clan) Then sometime between Chritmas eve and Christmas day Callum and my gift giving, making for one very memorable night and i'm still in shock over my amazing present :) Thanks again :) Christmas morning was brunch with my family and then the afternoon was spent Simon hunting and spending time with his family. And Christmas night was spent recovering for all the lovely food that was now in the belly.
For boxing day Callum and I hosted a braai at the house i'm currently house sitting. It was a really nice day of chilling in the sun, swimming and braai-ing creating a nice recipe for contented dopeyness and relatively early to bed.

The rest of the week was taken up with trying to spead as much time as possible with Callum before he was leaving on the 31st.

But the 31st came too quickly for my liking and sadly it was time to say goodbye for now.
The it was New years - and with no idea what to do .... up went the call from Luke, Fee and Owen to get to the Vortex ! So off we went ...with Mark as well to join others at the Vortex. It was def the best idea for me. Much fan was had chilling in the afternoon starting on the alcohol and socilizing and setting up the tent (which i didnt get to sleep in ...thanks mark) There was much partying and dancing and running around and declarations of love for friends (which is usual went we get seriously inebriated) But after all this and the lack of sleep for the last 3 weeks caught up with me and i retired to the warmth of the car and the beautiful tunes of cafe del mar to sleep to thanks to my beautiful present. The next day was spent mostly just chilling out at the river or dancing in the shade of the dance floor as it was an insanly hot day. Mark and I then set off on a winding trip home through the Franshoek valley.

And now it is 2007 - my year - the year that i get to start my dreams - to make my way into the world and be happy...and it is off to a great start.

Well that is all for now - i have run out of energy and am off to watch the brilliant movie Mysterious Skin again :)

I hope that 2007 is a great year for everyone - one where we can start on the paths of our dreams and make great things happen.

Much Love all, Till next time - thanks for reading

My fantasy life

Current mood: ecstatic

I have been living the most amazing fantasy life for the past few weeks. In my previous blogs i've been talking about having expectations and all the worry that goes with it that these expectations will not be met etc. Well i was stressing for nothing!!! Things have been great and there have been so many moments when i've had to pinch myself to beleive that i could have found someone so great and who thinks i'm amazing ...I"m riding high on a bubble of hormones and it is fanstatic!

It amazing to just give over to life and live it instead of living it all in your head - hoping for the best and to be living in the moment.

Its great to be spoilt again - it been so long since i've been spoilt by a guy and i'd almost forgotten what it was like and i've been absolutly blown away by the awesome ways, little and great, that i've been spoilt. It can be just being spoilt by an amazing comment or by the awesomly extravegant gift i got for christmas!!! I dont think i've ever been so blown away by a present - not only for the fact that it is the most extravegant gift but also by the fact that the was so much faith in us being together and the throught and time involved in picking it and the involvement of other people in his life.

It has def been the most unforgetable few weeks i've even have and it setting a very high bar for the future which is been forced into sharp focus for me...and so I will be pushing myself out of my comfort zone and out into the big wide world to experience it all and to experience the love that is growing everyday.

I'm falling hard and fast and loving every minute of it ....and the next 3 months better go as fast as possible!

Anticipation

Current mood: confused
Category: Blogging

I feel like i've been on a rollercoaster of emotions this week and i know it is only the beginning. The rollercoaster has many more twists and turns on the way.

On Monday it seemed that the hangover from obz fest kicked in and then was helped but ensuing emotions and thoughts of confusion. Sometimes i have no idea what my head or my heart wants, its just a jumble of emotions and feelings, good and bad.

Tuesday involved wanting to break my computer as it crashed at the most inopportune moment! I was pissed, angry, furious and about ready to kill something ...and then i get the most awesome phone call that just sets my mood right up in the clouds and causes me to have the most difficult time falling asleep with all the thoughts flying around my head.
Wednesday was a good but very tiring day which involved an art exhibition and drinks ...note to self : do not wear high heels to graduation exhibition ... landed up walking around bear foot clutching my heels in my hand. But wasnt really fazed as I was surrounded by much stranger, being the art student crowd (including someone in their 20's with grey hair - fake we presume - she also happened someone i knew from way back - freaky) And drinks were highly entertaining due to the musical entertainment of the one man band complete with table dancing to "she bangs" at Quay 4.

But mostly i've just been wrapped up in my own excitement, fear, nervousness, longing for the next week. I have been fluctuating from one extreme to another. Freaking out and fearfull to then being blissfully happy and excited...
Well all I can do is just live in ... Antici .... Pation....
